About Me

Hi, I’m Abby Stevenson a Computer Science
with Artificial Intelligence student at Heriot-Watt University.
I'm a creative problem solver who loves to tackle complex
challenges using programming.

I'm proficient in Python and Java, and have worked on a range of projects
including creating data visualisations, and building machine learning models.

My passion lies in using artificial intelligence to make a
positive impact on the world.

Specifically, I'm interested in how AI can
be used for animal and environmental conservation as well as in a
healthcare setting.
I believe that by leveraging the power of technology,
we can protect our planet and its inhabitants while also gaining insights
into the animal kingdom.

Outside of coding and studying, I like to pursue my hobbies of photography, playing games,
and indulging in sci-fi.

I'd love for you to explore some of my projects listed
below and feel free to contact me to discuss more.

My Projects

Bird Camera My bird camera project uses a Raspberry Pi a camera and a weatherproof case to capture images of birds in my garden.
Using Python and TensorFlow, a machine learning model was trained on a dataset of UK bird images that I filtered from a larger online dataset. The model achieved a validation accuracy of 94%.

In the future, I’d like to expand the project to include Google Sheets integration for recording and analysing bird sightings.
I’d also like to develop an app for my phone to allow for remote viewing of the camera feed and notifications of bird sightings.
